18+ Womens Adult League

7:00-8:00pm

  • Goal: 4 Team League - 1 Hour of Structured basketball games with Referees/scorekeepers.

  • Returning Athlete Fee: $90 + HST

  • New Player Fee: $100 + HST (Jersey Included)

GAME RULES & REGULATIONS

FIBA Rules and Regulations with the following modifications.

Time

  • 4:00 minute warm-up

  • 20:00 minute halves, running time

  • 2:00 minute halftime

  • Final 2:00 minutes of the game will be stop time

  • If point spread is 20+, there will be no stop time

  • The 30 second shot clock is in effect for the final two minutes of the game

Game Flow / Substitutions

  • In the backcourt, the ball does not have to be touched by an official - the ball must be taken out of bounds and inbounded from the sideline

  • Only the team with possession in the backcourt can call for a substitution

  • If the team with possession in the backcourt calls for a substitution, the opposing team then may also sub.

Rosters/Eligibility

  • Players must be on a roster and registered with the league to play

  • Any changes or additions to roster must be approved by league convenor, email: avi.sohi@athleteinstitute.ca

  • Players must play a minimum of 2 regular season games to be eligible for playoffs

  • Players with outstanding league fees are not eligible for playoffs or regular season game

Jerseys

  • The home team on the schedule will wear white, the away team will wear black. Please bring your reversible jerseys each week.

  • If you misplace your jersey you will be required to purchase a replacement ($55 + HST)

Shooting Fouls

  • A shooting foul on a 2-pt field goal MISS will be rewarded with 1 free throw worth 2 points

  • A shooting foul on a 2-pt field goal MAKE will be rewarded with 2 points plus 1 free throw worth 1 point

  • A shooting foul on a 3-pt field goal MISS will be rewarded with 2 free throws - the first free throw is worth 2 points, the second is worth 1 point

  • A shooting foul on a 3-pt field goal MAKE will be rewarded with 3 points plus 1 free throw worth 1 point

Fouls

  • 6 fouls by one player will result in ejection from the game

  • Bonus starts at 7 team fouls per half

Technical Fouls

  • Technical fouls are non-contact fouls and result in 1 free throw worth 1 point

  • Unsportsmanlike fouls are contact fouls and result in 1 free throw worth 2 points

  • Two technical fouls = player ejection

  • Two unsportsmanlike fouls = player ejection

  • One technical foul and 1 unsportsmanlike foul = player ejection

  • Two ejections = 1 game suspension

Time Outs

  • Regular Season: Each team will have one time-out per half, unused time-outs will not carry over into the second half

  • Playoffs: Each team will have one time-out in the first half, and two time-outs in the second half. Unused time-outs in the first half will not carry over into the second half.

  • Unused time-outs in the second half can be used in overtime.

Overtime

  • If the score is tied at the end of regulation, there will be a 2-minute overtime. Overtime will continue until we have a winner.

  • There will not be an additional timeout added in overtime

  • Timeouts not used in the second half may be used in overtime

Referee

  • All games will be refereed by two Guelph Board (GBABO) officials

  • Only the captain from each team is permitted to speak to the referee regarding calls

  • Players will never address the score table but rather should speak to an official

Minimum Players

  • Teams must have at least 4 players to start the game

  • A team is permitted to play with 4 players for the entirety of the game. The opposing team may match their 4 (4v4) or choose to play with 5 (5v4).

  • If a team is short players, they may 'borrow' players from another team to play the game

  • If a team chooses to 'borrow' players from another team, the game will still be played but the team will technically forfeit, 0-20

  • Players must be registered with the league to play for another team
