Athlete Institute Street Ball is a 4v4 basketball league, taking place on our outdoor courts.

Games are refereed by board certified officials with results and standings recorded online

STREET BALL RULES & REGULATIONS

FIBA Rules and Regulations with the following modifications.

Time

  • 18:00 minute halves, running time

  • 2 minute half time

  • Clock will stop in final 1 minute only

Referees

  • All courts will be refereed by one board certified official, and monitored by one volunteer scorekeeper.

Weather

  • In case of rain or thunderstorm, game cancellations will be posted online and emailed out to all parents.

Substitutions

  • Substitutions will occur every 4:30 minutes, the scorekeeper/court monitor will notify the referee

Game Flow

  • In the backcourt, the ball does not have to be touched by an official - the ball must be taken out of bounds and inbounded from the sideline

Rosters

  • Players must be on a roster and registered with the league to play

Scoring

  • Baskets made inside the '3-point line' will be recorded as 1 point

  • Baskets made outside the '3-point line' will be recorded as 2 points

Shooting Fouls

  • A shooting foul on a 1-pt field goal MISS will be rewarded with 1 free throw worth 1 point

  • A shooting foul on a 1-pt field goal MAKE will be rewarded with 1 point plus 1 free throw worth 1 point

  • A shooting foul on a 2-pt field goal MISS will be rewarded with 1 free throw worth 2 points

  • A shooting foul on a 2-pt field goal MAKE will be rewarded with 2 points plus 1 free throw worth 1 point

Fouls

  • Fouls will not be recorded

Technical/Unsportsmanlike Fouls

  • Technical fouls are non-contact fouls and result in 1 free throw worth 1 point

  • Unsportsmanlike fouls are contact fouls and result in 1 free throw worth 2 points

  • Two technical fouls = player ejection

  • Two unsportsmanlike fouls = player ejection

  • One technical foul and 1 unsportsmanlike foul = player ejection

  • Two ejections = 1 game suspension

Time Outs

  • 1 timeout per game, per team

Overtime

  • If the score is tied at the end of regulation, there will be a 2:00 minute overtime

(FAQs)

  • In the event of inclement weather on the date of any outdoor programs scheduled a decision will be communicated by 4 PM if there will be a cancelation. If there has been no communication the programs will be running as scheduled.  

    After 4 PM the day of, discretion is left to the lead program instructor to cancel on-site. 

    A rescheduled session may push back all programming by one week. 

    Athlete Institute reserves the right to reschedule a session on another night of the week if required. Refunds will not be issued if the athlete cannot make the new date.   

    If a session gets canceled mid-way through it will not be rescheduled and if it’s canceled ahead of time, it will be rescheduled.  

    If a clinic is canceled due to inclement weather, the athlete may make up the clinic in a similar session on another night of the week.

  • Youth League Policy 
    The registration deadline is the last official day to register for our programs. This will always be 14 days (about 2 weeks) before the program's start date. You may still register for programs after this deadline with an added $20 late/administration fee. Please note that there will be no guarantees regarding teammate requests after this date. Members must also note that when signing up after the deadline they may not receive a jersey for 1-2 weeks.
